WHY USE AN OUTPATIENT CENTER?
Our convenient outpatient center provides the
same level of safety and monitoring and is held to the same high standards as
similar facilities
in the hospital. Our experienced staff and modern
equipment enable us to perform your procedure safely, effectively, with greater
convenience, and at a lower cost. This cost advantage combined with excellent care make
your selection of our ambulatory center the smart choice.
YOUR PROCEDURE
Upon arrival you will be greeted by our highly trained registered nurses,
medical staff assistants and technicians, all of whom are prepared to care for
you before, during, and after your procedure. In most instances,
a certified registered nurse anesthetist will administer
appropriate anesthesia to maximize your
comfort during your endoscopy procedure.
BEFORE YOU ARRIVE
- Bring a responsible adult with you to drive you home and expect a
2-3 hour stay at our facility.
- Follow the instructions on your preparation sheet for eating or drinking.
- Dress comfortably and leave your valuables at home.
- Do not smoke the day of your procedure.
- Notify the doctor of any blood thinners you are taking.
- If you suspect you may be pregnant, immediately notify your physician.
- Bring all insurance and I.D. information with you.
Please bring your living will so it can be added to your
completed medical chart.
- Bring a list of medications you are currently taking.
- Please arrive on time as our staff will be prepared for you at your
specific appointment time.
WHILE YOU ARE HERE
- After checking in with the receptionist, you will be escorted to the
admitting area where our nursing staff will assist you.
- Your vital signs will be carefully monitored during and following the
exam.
- After your endoscopy, you will rest in our recovery room for at least 30
minutes prior to discharge from our center.
- Your physician will review your post procedure instructions with you.

AFTER YOU LEAVE
- Follow your doctor’s specific instructions.
- You are not allowed to drive yourself home,
and should not drive until the following day. This is for your safety. Since
you have received anesthesia, you would be regarded as impaired even if you
think you feel fine.
- Please avoid any activity requiring close attention or judgment for 24
hours. This includes driving, signing legal papers or making important
decisions.
- Do not drink alcohol or take medications not prescribed by your physician.
- If you have any difficulties, call our office
at 239-939-9939. Should there be an
emergency, go directly to the nearest emergency room.
- Our staff will call you to check your post procedure progress or you may
contact us at 939-9939 during the day or night.
BILLING AND INSURANCE
Our center participates in Medicare, Medicaid, and many
insurances, HMOs, PPOs, and other managed care programs. For your convenience, our
office staff is available to assist you with your insurance forms and our
billing office will help
confirm your coverage before your procedure.
If you do not have health insurance,
please inquire about our very competitive self-pay rates.
Please understand there will be billing statements from
Gulf Coast Endoscopy Center for the endoscopy center facility fee, Digestive
Health Physicians, PL for the physician professional fee, Outpatient Anesthesia
Specialists, LLC for anesthesia services, and Ameripath for pathology services
if biopsies are required.
While this may seem like many bills, the total
cost will still be less
than if your endoscopy was done in the hospital. If you have any questions
